Take it to the Bridge: Save the Date, by Kathryn Cornelius
Saturday, August 11th
10:00am - 5:00pm
Free
Presented by Washington Project for the Arts (WPA)

First used as the stage for Holly Bass in February, the Performance Bridge will serve as the non-traditional space for ten artists to present nine installations and exploring a variety of social, political, and aesthetic issues in the series Take it to the Bridge.

Kathryn Cornelius' Save the Date performance utilizes the Performance Bridge's transparency and visibility to investigate the concept and ceremony of marriage. Cornelius explores the life cycle of marriage and divorce and the wedding ceremony’s complex mix of private emotion, public spectacle, social expectation, and state power. Propose to Kathryn via her Tumblr site. Follow her preparations via her Twitter feed. In lieu of wedding gifts, please visit her Honeyfund page.
