The Caine Mutiny
During World War II, a battle-scarred captain takes command of a undisciplined destroyer, determined to transform the vessel into a tight run ship. Irrational behavior and disastrous errors in the captain’s command cause the executive officers to assume control. Was the mutiny a criminal act, or an act of courage to save the ship from destruction at the hands of a deranged captain? Co-starring Van Johnson, Fred MacMurray, José Ferrer and Robert Francis; directed by Edward Dmytryk. Columbia. (not rated, 125 min, color, 1954)
