Watkins, a graduate of Ohio State University's creative writing program, will be reading from her debut novel, "Battlehorn" at Politics and Prose.
According to Vogue Magazine, Clare Vaye Watkins is "The most captivating voice to come out of the West since Annie Proulx."
"Raised in the Nevada desert, Watkins takes the American West as her literary territory, exploring its opportunities, limits, and hardships in ten stories that range from the glitz of Las Vegas to the grittier lives of prostitutes and prospectors. With characters by turns desperate, rugged, and independent, Watkins depicts a regional spirit that thrives on challenges and has no truck with easy sentiment."
