"Since the invention in the late 19th century of small handheld cameras and faster film speeds, photographers have been fascinated with capturing the urban environment. This exhibition of nearly 90 works celebrates how photographers such as Harry Callahan, Bruce Davidson, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Walker Evans, Robert Frank, and Beat Streuli creatively pursued new genres of street photography, recording the diversity and rapid pace of modern life."
