Online sales have ended but you can still check out the DC Youth Slam Team and Baltimore Youth Slam Team tonight as they battle against their coaches, mentors, and adult slam champs "in this epic battle of young versus seasoned" featuring such poets as Drew Law, Joseph LMS, G Yamazawa, Slangston Hughes, Clint Smith, Olu Butterfly, Advocate, Femi the Dri Fish, HanaLyn, and Temple. Come out to this great fundraiser to help support the DC and Baltimore youth slam teams!

  • Voices of Health (HIV) Benefit event featuring The Torches, a 7-piece DC swamp rock band!
    2-part benefit event: Audio Installation and Live Musical Performances!

    Funds support the installation of Voices of Health Listening Stations, which seeks to amplify local DC voices, in connection with “AIDS 2012″ an International AIDS Conference July 21-27th.  

    Audio Installation  from 7:00pm - 8:30pm,  Debut listening event of Voices of Health audio portraits, 3-7 minute audio profiles of DC residents, in their own words, speaking about their experiences first learning of their HIV positive diagnosis... 

    Live Music from 8:30pm - 11:00pm with David Schulman – jazz violin, Letitia VanSant and headliners, The Torches, "a 7-piece DC swamp rock band features banjo, oboe, cello, bass, drums, harmonica, fiddle and a stomping good time." I've seen these guys before and they are lots of fun! Definitely recommend checking them out.

    Hip Hop Trivia Night

    Two Teams of 4 battling it out to win the title of knowing the most about Hip Hop. Who got the props? Please come out for the title or to just cheer the contestants on!!! The game will be played at a new hip hop spot called Fever. Get there early (7pm) to sign up for the teams and we will start the first game at 8:15pm and the second game at 9:30pm.
