DC Walkabout is relatively new in town and I'm excited to let you know that they offer several free, tip-based walking tours of DC! Grab your comfy shoes and head on out to one of these tours this weekend! Learn more about the stories behind the monuments and buildings and engage first hand with knowledgeable tour guides who share a passion for DC! 


Whether you live here or are visiting, these tours are sure to add to your DC experience. Advance registration is requested, though not required so feel free to just show up! If you have any questions, you can call 202.421.4053 or email info@dcwalkabout.com.


When you show up for the tour, just look for the guide with the DC Walkabout logo shirt and a safari hat on! Tours take about two hours each and are held rain or shine. You can also follow DC Walkabout on facebook and @DCWalkabout twitter. Remaining tours this weekend listed below.

Tour Descriptions:


Capitol Hill

Major Sights include the Capitol Building, Ulysses S Grant Memorial, Supreme Court, Library of Congress and Union Station. You'll also have a chance to take in the grand structures of the Legislative and Judicial branches of government, see the Neptune Fountain, and gaze across the National Mall.
Meet at corner of 3rd and Pennsylvania Ave, NW
same corner as the Grant Memorial (see map)
Metro: Judiciary Square


War Memorials
Hear about the wars of the 20th century as you visit the memorials of WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
Meet at Ellipse corner of 17th & Constitution NWMetro: Farragut North or Farragut West, about .8 mile walk (see map)


See the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, MLK Jr. Memorial, and Lincoln Memorial. Walk around the Tidal Basin as you visit the memorials to these great American figures.
Meet at center of field on road side of Jefferson Memorial (1 East Basin Dr, SW)
Metro: Smithsonian is the closest station, still about 1 mile walk (see map)

The lifeline connecting the White House to the Capitol Building, Pennsylvania Avenue is the heart of Washington DC, both symbolically and geographically. Major sights include: Lafayette Square, White House, Willard Hotel, Pershing Park, Freedom Plaza, Old Post Office, FBI, Justice Dept, Navy Memorial, National Archives, Canadian Embassy, and more.Meet at the Baron Von Steuben Statue at the corner of H St, NW and Jackson Pl ,NW in Lafayette Square, the park in front of the White House.
