Join Panelists Christylez Bacon, Angela Goerner, Tutey Thi Pham and my friend, Sarah Massey, for what is sure to be a captivating panel discussion this Tuesday night at Busboys and Poets 5th & K St, NW. You'll have a chance to hear from local artists, gallery owners and artist union members as they talk about living and working as an artist and share their thoughts about how artists can connect with other artists and the larger community and the role of organized labor in the creative industries.

Panelists: * Christylez Bacon, Grammy-nominated progressive hip-hop artist * Angela Goerner, Development Director, Hamiltonian Artists * Sarah Massey, public relations for artists and former Media Outreach Specialist for the AFL-CIO * Tuyet Thi Pham, Actor's Equity Association member and DC-based actress. This event is also featured as a pick of the week on Scoutmob!

Bread & Roses is a monthly labor series featuring a variety of events focused on workers and organized labor. Each month they present a new topic through interactive discussions, film screenings, performances, etc. The hope for these events is that attendees walk away with a greater understanding of organized labor, its role in shaping history and current relevance. This monthly event takes place on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm. The name "Bread & Roses" was inspired by a poem/song written by James Oppenheim that appeals for both fair wages and dignified conditions.
