PAST: JAZZ: Live Jazz every THURS at 1905 near U St 9:00pm, Free

Live Jazz at 1905
Every Thursday night
9:00pm
Free

I heard about this place called 1905 from a friend but haven't been there yet. Sounds like a really cool spot. Apparently they have neighborhood nights like Taco Tuesdays and Live Jazz on Thursdays and have been open since September of 2008. Looks like their menu is inspired by comfort foods... and they are one of the handful or so bars in DC that now serve absinthe (others include The Tabard Inn, Black Squirrel, the Irish Pub in Cleveland Park... please comment if you know other places).

Drop in and enjoy a rotating schedule from three of DC's finest jazz groups along with special guests.

Hot Club of DC - Let yourself be taken back to the jazz era of the 30s and 40s - gypsy style with the Hot Club of DC. Stephan Caucheteux (guitar) leads the trio with Rick Netherton on bass and guest Ken Matthews (Laissez Foure) on clarinet.

Nicki Gonzalez & Matvei Sigalov Duo - Playing Brazilian jazz, samba, and bossa-nova.

Laissez Foure - Acoustic quartet knee-deep in the jazz classics from the 30s, plus a flare of Latin jazz with a good old New Orleans vibe.
