Poetic Voices is a partnership between the American Poetry Museum and The Phillips Collection and is a series of programs that explore the interestions of visual art and poetry. At this Thursday's event, Fred responds in poetry to artwork in the museum's collection, including paintings by Jacob Lawrence and Horace Pippin.

Fred Joiner is a poet and artist living in Washington DC's Historic Anacostia. Fred's work has been published in numerous places, including Warpland: A Journal of Black Literature and Ideas, Beltway Poetry Quarterly, Fingernails Across the Chalkboard, his blog, and in his own forthcoming chapbook, tentatively titled Seekin'.
