If you haven't been to Busboys before, this is a "must see" in DC on my list! It's a unique space that is a lounge, wi-fi spot, restaurant, bar, performance space and bookstore rolled into one! Thanks to Andy Shallal, who has created this amazing place with a great vibe. Artists, intellects and progressive minded folks definitely welcome here. Busboys hosts a weekly poetry event every Tuesday night that usually packs the room. $3 cover. Arrive 7:30-8:00 for seating or to get on the open mic list. Event starts at 9:00 and goes 'til 10:30 or so usually.You can check out "Sunday Kind of Love," a free poetry reading and open mic from 4:00 - 6:00 at Busboys & Poets. Open mic following the features. Busboys is close to the U ST metro (green or yellow line) at the corner of 14th and V.
Free in DC is an arts, culture, and consciousness resource dedicated to all the cool, free, low-cost things to do in Washington, DC… proving you don't need to spend a lot to live a rich life in this town! See DC through the eyes of a local who lives in the city and is plugged into the scene. All events are free, donation-based, or $10 or less and accessible by Metro or bus in VA, MD or DC.
